It's as if someone "plonked" the fixtures and fittings of a bingo hall on top of an old cinema and never bothered to clean up! Great for people like us of course.

While working there going into these disused and derelict areas from the staff areas was as easy as simply continuing up or down a flight of stairs in some places.

The area you've documented here around the projection booth, I had the pleasure of exploring once during daylight hours after staff training. Did you see the weird police cell area? We could never work out what it actually was, but for all intents and purposes it looked like a number cells meant to house people, although why they would be in a cinema was beyond me and my fellow band of bingo workers/explorers.

We were also able to explore the area that used to be backstage. I dare say this might be a lot more difficult without permission as this area, or parts of it, are now where the staff areas and cashiers office is.

Continue down the spiral staircase connecting these areas though, and you will find yourself in the old dressing rooms, complete with still in place mirrors etc. It was really weird to stand in this dusty, dark, underground set of rooms and image all the performers down there many years ago.

We did try continuing down further, but there had been flooding and I, as I had been leading the gang as we went down some stairs, ended up knee deep in what I really hope was river water but was probably sewerage.

Thanks again, great post! Always seems sad to see once grand places all boarded up in darkness and dust. there a cinema in my home town theta now a pub. I often wonder whats there behind the boarding upstairs and in the projection room.Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14325237816285457371noreply@blogger.com
